This is a non-exempt, temporary (variable/limited-hour) position, and is not eligible for city benefits.  </strong> <br><br>This position performs in a responsible facility and program management role to include, but not limited to, assisting in the supervision of activities, facilities, classes, and/or events in the department's Athletic Programs that are comprised of diverse recreational features and amenities for all ages; performs related duties as required. This job announcement may close at any time after 7 calendar days.</em></span><ul style="margin-bottom: 3.0pt;"><li>Communicates effectively, professionally, courteously and thoroughly with the highest regard to the customer.<li>Provides leadership to assigned facility or site as a manager on duty or the supervisor of a distinct program or activity.<li>Provides information to the public regarding recreation activities and benefits of participation.<li>Assists with the planning, organization, preparation, and implementation of recreation-related programming and/or facility operations.<li>Assists in the registration of participants in recreation programs.<li>Assists in providing the safe operation and security of recreation centers, fields, courts, parks and programming sites through daily inspections of the site and equipment, reporting needed repairs to management.<li>Assists in the scheduling of games, meets and events.<li>Supervises the conduct of participants during recreation programming and facility sites.<li>Maintains order by enforcing policy and rules and regulations and removes and suspends non-conforming participants.<li>Responsible for all policy and procedures associated with facility, park and program management to include cash handling operating policy and procedures; this may also include performing work as a cashier, operating register, and processing receipts in person, by phone or with online customer.<li>Trains part-time, volunteer or student assistants, instructors, game officials and others with regard to City and departmental policies and games and class standards and rules.<li>Responsible for the oversight of custodial functions throughout the assigned location, up to and including performing basic custodial tasks when needed.<li>Inventories, maintains and stores recreation equipment, materials and supplies, requisitions- required material, equipment and supplies.<li>Responds effectively to emergencies within the assigned facility or during assigned program.<li>Prepares and submits incident and accident reports to immediate supervisor for documentation.<li>Evaluates program and facility staff as assigned.<li>Depending upon assignment, may provide inclusion support to individuals with disabilities within a general recreation setting.<li>Performs related tasks as required.</ul><strong>Minimum Qualifications:</strong><ul><li>Minimum age: 21<li>Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma. <li>Minimum of six (6) months of professional experience with facility management, adaptive recreation programs, athletics, or other recreational environments. <li>Must be able to work flexible schedule including early mornings, weeknights, weekends and holidays.<li>Depending upon position, may require three (3) months of supervisory experience.</ul><strong>Preferred:</strong><ul><li><span style="color: inherit;font-style: normal;text-align: left;text-indent: 0.0px;">Additional coursework in athletics, recreation, fitness and wellness or related field preferred.</span> </ul><strong>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities</strong>: Thorough knowledge of professional behavior in a recreation environment; maintains order by enforcing Parks and Recreation rules and regulations; ability to instruct recreational activities; ability to establish effective working relationships with all staff, program participants and the general public; ability to prepare and maintain administrative and financial records; ability to effectively supervise and evaluate staff to achieve desired objectives; skilled in supervising small and large special events; skilled in interpreting policy and procedures; ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.Physical requirements of this position as outlined by the Department of Labor: MEDIUM: work involves exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, or an amount greater than negligible and up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.<br><br>This position may be required to work weekends, nights, holidays, stand-by/on-call and/or emergency on-call.<br><br>This is a safety sensitive position subject to drug and alcohol testing for pre-employment, reasonable suspicion, post-accident and random testing.<br><br>Position may require driving a City-owned vehicle and is subject to the vehicle use policy and procedures.<br><br>Dependent upon assignment, a majority of time spent in this position involves outside work which may involve extreme temperatures, extreme brightness, chemicals/hazardous waste and/or blood-borne pathogens. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
