About the position

SiriusXM is seeking a Director of Systems Engineering for its Atlassian team, responsible for providing technical leadership and management of Atlassian engineering and products. This role involves driving the Atlassian Datacenter roadmap and architecture to ensure the implementation of best-in-class, highly available, and secure Atlassian platforms, including JIRA, Confluence, Tempo, Bitbucket, and associated plugins. The Director will oversee the design, maintenance, and enhancement of Atlassian technologies and governance policies, aligning them with SiriusXM's goals. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in Atlassian products, exceptional leadership skills, and a strategic mindset to drive innovation and efficiency within the engineering team.

Responsibilities

Lead and mentor an agile, geographically distributed team of Atlassian engineers and administrators responsible for the delivery of Atlassian services across the enterprise.

Design and provide oversight over the global Atlassian environment and roadmap.

Evaluate emerging technologies for potential integration with our Atlassian ecosystem, and provide recommendations for adoption.

Provide leadership, roadmap and activity planning, and technical guidance to produce required deliverables and meet project milestones.

Build strong partnerships with Product and Technology leaders across the organization, including leading the Atlassian Council.

Build new Jira projects, integrations, and author workflows based on user requirements.

Perform advanced troubleshooting tasks on Atlassian nodes including resource utilization and stack trace analysis.

Manage the Confluence environment and create spaces, pages, page templates as necessary.

Manage roles and permissions for tools according to functional areas, production processes, projects teams.

Manage the implementation of Tempo time tracking plug-in and associated financial and compliance reporting.

Ensure system availability of all Atlassian tools based on defined SLAs.

Handle service ticket queue to ensure timely resolution for end user issues.

Oversee the creation of comprehensive documentation and training materials to support end-users and administrators of Atlassian technologies.

Manage relationships with Atlassian and third-party vendors, ensuring optimal support and collaboration.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, related technical disciplines or equivalent practical experience.

10+ years of experience in Systems Engineering, Administration, and Architecture.

7+ years of experience administering and supporting Jira and Confluence in large enterprise environments.

5+ years of experience leading Atlassian engineering teams.

In-depth knowledge of Atlassian products and plug-ins, along with proficiency in related technologies such as Java, JavaScript, SQL, etc.

Experience with Atlassian Datacenter and Cloud products.

Proficient in ScriptRunner / Groovy / JQL.

Ability to balance user requests and business needs against established JIRA governance best practices.

Knowledge of user authentication, authorization and claims processing, as well as Identity management products and protocols.

Knowledge of SDLC framework and best practices, as well as agile project management approaches.

Knowledge of and experience engineering various operating systems and protocols across both Windows and Linux platforms.

A thorough understanding of and experience utilizing systems engineering protocols and concepts - DNS, DHCP, ADFS, Modern Auth. and similar or related technologies.

A thorough understanding of the different enterprise grade cloud-based technologies and platforms, and a deep understanding of when to utilize cloud and when to utilize on premise solutions.

Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally with business stakeholders, IT teams, and external vendors.

Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Must have legal right to work in the U.S.

Benefits

Competitive salary range of $163,300 to $220,000 based on skills and experience.

Eligibility for discretionary short-term and long-term incentives.
