STARTING COMPETITIVE PAY AT $19.00 UP TO $22.00 PER HR

Position Responsibilities: (Include but are not limited to)

  • Understanding all applicable legal, moral and ethical issues surrounding emergency medical service while remaining in compliance with Local Emergency Medical Services Agency polices,
  • Upholding and maintaining Bay Medic’s company standards and policies,
  • Providing excellent customer service through effective listening to understand the customers’ needs in order to maintain positive relationships with patients, clients and partners,
  • Ensuring comfortable and thorough patient care within the EMT scope of practice,
  • Providing basic life support by assessing patients and practicing airway management, using of the automatic defibrillator, taking vitals, assisting patients with taking medications, and administering additional care as needed,
  • Assessing the patient throughout the duration of transport and providing additional care as indicated or directed by medical control,
  • Determining the nature and extent of illness or injury and adjusting care accordingly,
  • Administering oxygen, oral glucose and other medications as needed,
  • Maintaining a level of calmness amidst stressful and unpredictable situations,
  • Communicating with Dispatch to maintain accuracy and efficiency for transport,
  • Verbally and textually reporting their observation and care of the patient on scene and in transit to the receiving medical facility staff for purposes of records and diagnostics,
  • Attending infrequent skills refreshers and retraining as necessary,
  • Restocking and replacing used linens, blankets and other required supplies at the beginning and end of each shift,
  • Decontaminating all equipment following appropriate disinfecting and sanitizing procedures between each call,
  • Ensuring that the ambulance is clean, washed, fueled and kept in professional conditions for themselves and the following crew

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:

  • CA State EMT Card
  • Minimum of 18 years of age or older
  • Must read, write and speak English
  • Minimum high school diploma or GED
  • Valid California driver’s license
  • Valid Ambulance Drivers Certificate
  • Medical Examiner’s Certificate
  • California DMV H6 Motor Vehicle Report
  • Current California EMT-B certification
  • American Heart Association BLS certification
