Job Description:

Juab County is seeking a dedicated and physically capable Wildland Fire Warden to lead our fire management efforts on non-federal lands. Our community is rapidly expanding in a picturesque setting, offering excellent schools and ample recreational opportunities. Given the increasing public activity, proactive wildfire management is essential. This pivotal role involves coordinating closely with local volunteer fire departments, fire districts, and HOA communities under Utah's Cooperative Wildfire System (CWS), while also collaborating with federal agencies on fire suppression. The County Fire Warden will manage delegated wildland fires and spearhead prevention and fuels mitigation strategies within the CWS framework. This is a unique chance to make a significant impact in a thriving community.

Responsibilities

Support initial attack and extended attack on wildland fires with partner agencies.

Communicate and coordinate at a high level with stakeholders and interagency fire cooperators from local, state, and federal agencies in support of CWS and interagency cooperative objectives.

Evaluate, coordinate and implement hazardous fuels treatments on non-federal lands within Juab County

Coordinate and implement wildland fire prevention efforts with partner agencies.

Provide leadership and training to volunteer Fire Departments.

Qualifications

NWCG Single Resource Boss qualification and Incident Commander Type 5.

Ability to communicate with the public, local government officials and fire personnel in a professional and knowledgeable manner.

Comfortable with remote work computer systems such as Google Suite and MS Office.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to complete arduous pack test and maintain red card.

Requires periods of intense physical excertion, lifting, stooping, standing, bending, etc

Wildland fire qualifications and agency certification standards.

Required to be on-call during statutory fire season. This requires you to respond to fire calls / pages within 30 minutes either by radio, phone or in person to begin coordination of suppression actions.

Must reside in Juab County or ability to relocate to Juab County within 60 days of hire.

Must be able to pass a drug screening.

This position may require travel.
