Job Summary

It is the intent of the basic job requirements, duties, and responsibilities that any building be kept neat and clean at all times. These minimum requirements should be referred to as a guide, rather than a limitation to, the services required to maintain a building effectively. Staff will be required to perform the necessary work to maintain the optimum level of cleanliness in every building or worksite serviced by Guardian

Job Description

Essential Functions

  • Floor & Project Technicians will maintain all types of floor areas through the process of stripping/refinishing hard surface floors and shampooing carpeted areas.

Responsibilities:

  • Cleans and sanitizes after emergency spill clean up requests.
  • Change Shampoo to Extracts.
  • Inspect and ensure that all assigned areas are properly cleaned and in good repair, reporting all problems to the supervisor.
  • Shampoo assigned carpeted areas.
  • Maintain all assigned equipment, keep equipment clean and in good repair, report all problems and suggestions to the supervisor.
  • Comply with all Company policies and procedures.
  • Follow all safety and sanitation regulations, reporting problems to the shift supervisor.
  • Remove all soil, wax, and sealer from assigned hard-surface floors.
  • Uses chemicals and solutions as directed by Tech Manual.

Non-Carpeted Areas

  • Empty waste baskets and replace liners as needed.
  • Sweep and spot mop tile floors.
  • Complete damp mop tile floors.
  • Dust/clean cleared desks and surfaces of tables.

Miscellaneous

  • Must keep janitor’s closet neat and orderly.
  • Equipment (such as vacuums) must be properly maintained at all times.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Working experience of basic janitorial duties and responsibilities is a MUST.
  • Must have good listening and verbal communication skills. Must have the ability to speak English and Spanish
  • Must maintain a neat appearance. A uniform is required at some worksites.
  • Must attend periodic training and safety meetings.
  • Must be able to understand and anticipate the needs of the clients.
  • Must be punctual.
  • Must have Clear Background to work at this location.

Education and Work Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in commercial facilities and building janitorial work desired.

The employee may occasionally lift and/or move a minimum of 40 pounds of office and facilities equipment (cleaning products, tools, and ladders) and trash and the ability to safely use equipment provided.
