About the position

The Junior Accountant, Revenue position is an entry-level role within the Revenue Accounting team at Squarespace. This role is designed for detail-oriented and motivated individuals who will support essential financial operations, including billing, cash collection, revenue recognition, and reconciliation tasks. The position offers a unique opportunity for recent graduates or early-career professionals to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic SaaS environment, working closely with various teams to ensure accurate financial processes.

Responsibilities

Set up revenue recognition and invoicing schedules for enterprise and revenue share programs in accordance with contract terms and ASC 606

Send invoices to customers, accurately apply cash receipts, and resolve billing disputes

Maintain and review accounts receivable aging and assist with collections of past due accounts

Record monthly journal entries related to accounts receivable, sales tax, deferred revenue, and revenue as part of month-end close

Perform reconciliations as part of the month-end close process and assist with other ad hoc reconciliations

Assist with sales commission calculations and act as a liaison for channels and services team with updates on billing and collections

Proactively identify and propose ways to improve processes across the revenue accounting organization

Provide project support

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance

1 year prior accounting experience

Exceptional collaboration skills to work with teams across the organization and externally with customers

Experience with Microsoft Excel required

Knowledge of US GAAP and ASC 606 preferred

Experience with NetSuite and Salesforce preferred
