Salary range: $24.50/Hour (50,960/Year) to $32.37/Hour ($67,330/Year)

 

Lateral transfer starting salary based on years of law enforcement

 

12-Hour shifts with three day weekends every other weekend

 

Maryville Police Officer’s serve the community by performing a variety of routine and complex public safety duties including patrol, crime prevention, enforcement of all laws, protecting lives and property, conducting arrests, response to calls, conducting preliminary investigations, and encouraging a positive community relationship.

 

As a lateral hire, you will complete an abbreviated Field Training Program designed to familiarize you with Maryville’s unique policies, procedures, and ordinances. Lateral hires are also eligible for a $10,000 sign-on incentive, with a four-year commitment.

 

This is a non-exempt position that reports directly to a Shift Sergeant of the Police Department. Under the general direction of the shift sergeant, Maryville Police Officer’s serve the community by performing a variety of routine and complex public safety duties including patrol, crime prevention, enforcement of all laws, protecting lives and property, conducting arrests, response to calls, conducting preliminary investigations, and encouraging a positive community relationship. Officers perform a variety of unplanned physical tasks, which include the restraint of violent individuals. Decisions within assigned responsibilities are made autonomously. Officers perform under general supervision, with daily tasks outlined and progress periodically reviewed. Officers regularly engage with members of the community.

Essential Functions

Incident/Accident Activities

 

Conducts routine patrols of assigned areas, ensuring thorough checks and monitoring of all aspects within the City of Maryville.

Responds promptly to notifications of incidents or accidents arriving on the scene in a timely and safe manner. Collects preliminary information, evaluates the situation, and determines the appropriate course of action.

Proactively monitors the environment to identify and deter potential criminal activity.

Handles incidents and accidents in accordance with departmental procedures, maintaining safety, professionalism, and adherence to protocols.

Prepares and submits detailed and accurate reports to supervisors as required, ensuring they are completed in a timely manner.

 

Service Calls

 

 

Receives and responds to assigned service calls, ensuring professionalism and fostering positive public relations for the City of Maryville.

 

Offense calls

 

 

Responds to radio-dispatched or self-identified incidents, coordinating with other units as necessary to ensure an effective response.

Arrives at the scene promptly, notifying the dispatcher upon arrival, and takes appropriate enforcement or control actions in compliance with departmental procedures to ensure safety.

Keeps the dispatcher updated on status and initiates an investigation into the offense.

Conducts a thorough investigation, determines the appropriate enforcement actions, collects evidence as necessary, and completes required reports and documentation accurately and in a timely manner.

Carries out arrests when necessary, ensuring the safety of all parties involved and strict adherence to departmental procedures.

Performs initial booking procedures and completes any required follow-up activities related to the case.

 Other Patrol Activities

Performs traffic and parking enforcement duties, ensuring public safety, professionalism, and fostering positive public relations for the City of Maryville.

Maintains awareness of individuals with outstanding warrants, remains vigilant in identifying such people, and serves warrants as necessary while prioritizing safety, professionalism, and adherence to departmental policies and procedures.

Responds to animal-related complaints, addressing and resolving issues in an appropriate and professional manner.

Manages prisoner interactions as required, ensuring safety and professionalism while adhering to departmental policies and procedures.

Aids other agencies upon request, maintaining professionalism and compliance with departmental policies and procedures.

Performs light maintenance on department vehicles and safeguards all assigned equipment and supplies, ensuring they remain safe, operational, and ready for use.
