Thanks to products like Duo Enterprise, and Duo Workflow, customers get the benefit of AI at every stage of the SDLC. The same principles built into our products are reflected in how our team works: we embrace AI as a core productivity multiplier. All team members are encouraged and expected to incorporate AI into their daily workflows to drive efficiency, innovation, and impact across our global organisation.

The Utilization team works at the critical intersection between GitLab Core and Fulfillment applications, managing essential components that power GitLab's service delivery. Our scope includes consumables management (storage, compute, seats), usage reporting, and usage notifications across GitLab SaaS, GitLab self-managed, and internal tooling.

In this role, you will lead product strategy for our monetization initiatives, focusing on seat assignment models and usage billing. You'll work with engineering teams to ensure our customers have accurate transparency into their usage while building scalable solutions that support GitLab's growing platform. This role is critical in helping customers optimize their GitLab investment and manage costs effectively.

What You’ll Do

Drive product strategy and execution for key monetization initiatives, including the Seat Assignment Model (SAM) and usage billing

Partner with engineering, UX, sales, finance and customer success to define and prioritize product requirements

Lead cross-functional collaboration to solve complex challenges in subscription management and usage-based pricing

Develop and execute the product roadmap for seat management and consumables utilization features

Create clear, detailed product specifications and user stories that bring customer needs to life

Analyze customer feedback and usage data to inform product decisions and prioritization

Measure the impact of monetization features on customer satisfaction, retention, and revenue

Advocate for customer needs in balancing billing transparency with business requirements

Author and track progress on quarterly objectives related to utilization and monetization

Collaborate with Sales and Customer Success to learn from and educate customers on new billing models

What You’ll Bring

3+ years of product management experience, with demonstrable expertise in subscription, billing, or usage-based pricing models

Experience with fulfillment/billing/subscription management platforms, ideally at an enterprise/B2B level

Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and stakeholder management experience

Data-driven decision making with the ability to translate customer needs and broad problem areas into actionable product requirements

Experience with consumption-based or seat-based pricing models in B2B/enterprise software

Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences

Track record of successfully delivering features that balance customer needs with business objectives

Understanding of enterprise customer purchasing patterns and compliance requirements

Experience working in a globally distributed team environment

Experience in usage tracking and reporting systems is a plus

Familiarity with developer tools or platforms (CI/CD, version control systems) is a plus

About the team

The Utilization team operates at the core of GitLab's service delivery infrastructure. We build and maintain the systems that track resource consumption, generate usage reports, and manage notifications across GitLab's product suite. Our work directly impacts GitLab's ability to serve both SaaS and self-managed customers effectively.
