We currently have an opportunity for an Underwriting Support Supervisor to join our Life Sciences team based in our Anaheim, CA office or remotely in the United States. This role supervises the day-to-day management of qualified underwriting support staff, workflow processes and/or call monitoring to ensure prompt service to internal and external customers. Provides support services for producers, including authorizing renewals and endorsements under some supervision and within authority guidelines. This is the entry-level management function. Some of the Underwriting Support Supervisor include but are not limited to:

  • Determines day-to day priorities and assigns workload to staff to maximize productivity and quality in support of Underwriters. Monitors work progress and reassigns work and personnel as required. Ensures service levels are achieved by continuous monitoring of available staff and transaction volumes. Responsible for ensuring goals for productivity, quality of transactions and customer inquiries are met.
  • Supervises day to day underwriting support staff functions. This includes recommendations for all aspects of performance management, including but not limited to staffing selection, goal setting, skill assessment, performance appraisals, training and development.
  • Resolves processing and billing questions on underwriting transactions within multiple systems. Researches, documents and reports system problems to IT via service logs for resolution. Develops and implements standardized processing procedures.
  • Creates and implements quality control procedures and monitors adherence to Underwriting guidelines through audits and reports. Reviews work on processing system for accuracy and completeness. Monitors staff for accuracy and established customer service standards.
  • Identifies trends and develops plans for eliminating causes of recurring errors. Works with Underwriters to develop, implement, and assess effectiveness of workflow and associated procedures. Implements workflow changes as needed, to maximize team effectiveness.
  • Identifies skill gaps of staff and establishes appropriate training needs. Works with management to recognize future needs of the organization and plans development of staff to meet those needs. Develops and delivers effective training and cross-training plans as needed.

The expertise you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent business experience is required.
  • 2+ year’s experience in an Underwriting Support.
  • 1-2 years supervisory experience preferred.

Our salary ranges are determined by many factors including location, role, experience and skillset of the candidate. The following ranges displayed reflect the target base salary for new hires; however, your recruiter will provide more specific compensation details during the hiring process. The typical base salary range for this position is: $71,000 - $100,000, based on the factors aforementioned. For candidates located in San Francisco, CA; Washington DC; our Massachusetts based offices and the New York City metro area, the base salary range is $88,000 - 104,000. In addition to base salary, full time Intact employees are also eligible for bonus potential and a full range of benefits to include but not limited to:
