Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and analyze patient records to assign accurate codes for diagnoses, procedures, and treatments using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
  • Prepare and submit insurance claims and billing statements to payers, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
  • Respond to billing inquiries from patients and healthcare providers, providing exceptional customer service.
  • Follow up on unpaid claims, working closely with insurance companies to resolve discrepancies and denials.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to improve coding accuracy and billing processes.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a medical billing and coding program is preferred.
  • Basic understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
  • Familiarity with coding systems (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS) is a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and medical billing software.

Experience:
